Department of Computer and Communication Systems

About the Department

Our institute oversees a range of research and educational activities in software and network technologies, aiming to advance these technologies in both practical and theoretical domains.

In experimental software engineering, we focus on predictive analyses, where advanced analytical techniques such as data mining, machine learning, and statistical modelling play a crucial role. These methods allow us to analyse extensive datasets from past projects, identify patterns and trends, and thereby enhance the efficiency of development processes. This activity also includes research in software project estimation and planning.

Another crucial area of our efforts is remote monitoring and control of natural systems through mobile and computer networks. We specialise in operating systems like GNU/Linux and Windows, as well as network communication, which enables us to improve the security, stability, and performance of technological processes, thereby supporting the development of advanced applications.

Lastly, we concentrate on 2D/3D graphics and programming. We emphasise graphical visualisations, virtual reality, and efficient data visualisation. We also develop gaming and simulation systems for the video game industry and educational technologies that provide practical experience and help organisations optimise their operations and decision-making based on data.

Creative activity – Professional orientation:

Predictive Modelling in Software Engineering

Our institute’s first focus is experimental software engineering, emphasising predictive analytics. Our research aims to streamline development processes and enhance the quality of software products. A key element here is the application of data-driven insights obtained through analysing and interpreting extensive data sets from past projects. This strategy enables the design of practical solutions to challenges associated with software development.

Our research uses advanced analytical techniques such as data mining, machine learning, and statistical modelling, allowing us to examine data on software system development thoroughly. This enables us to extract useful information, recognise meaningful patterns and trends, identify potential risks, and optimise critical aspects of software engineering.

Another significant direction of our research is in estimating and planning software projects. We strive to develop, test, and refine methodologies for more accurate estimation of resources, time frames, and costs, which are essential for successfully executing software projects. Our approach includes analysing historical data, using expert estimates, and applying algorithmic models, with a particular emphasis on factors such as the size and complexity of the project.

Computer Networks and Software Technologies

The second part of our research focuses on the pivotal role of computer networks and operating systems. We engage in remote monitoring and control of technological systems, enabling us to efficiently manage technological processes regardless of physical location. This approach relies on advanced mobile and computer networks, which form the basis for fast and secure communication between devices and central systems.

Our work primarily focuses on two operating systems: GNU/Linux and Windows. This specialisation allows us to deepen our knowledge and skills in systems’ configuration, management, and security, which are fundamental for applications’ reliable and secure operation. We also focus on network communication, where we apply the latest security protocols and technologies to ensure a stable and high-performance environment for data transmission.

Our goal in this area is to improve existing systems’ security, stability, and performance and support the development of new, innovative applications. Working with operating systems and computer networks allows us to experiment with new approaches and technologies, discovering new possibilities for efficient management and control of technological processes.

Graphic and Game Development

The third significant area that our institute focuses on is advanced 2D/3D graphics and programming. Our research efforts in this field concentrate on creating realistic graphic and visual effects, which find applications in video games and simulations. We emphasise innovations in graphic visualisations and virtual reality, as well as efficient visualisation of complex data, allowing users to understand better and interpret available information.

We pay special attention to the development of the video game industry and educational technologies. We develop gaming and simulation systems that increase user engagement through interactivity and entertainment, provide practical experiences, and allow users to experiment with different scenarios in a safe environment. This is particularly valuable in education, where simulations and games can support learning through direct experience and interactive exploration.

In addition, we are involved in developing simulation systems for data collection and evaluation, which are crucial for organisations to optimise their operations and improve decision-making processes based on data. These systems allow for the realistic simulation of various operational scenarios, provide valuable insights into potential outcomes of decisions and strategies, and thus support more effective planning and management.
