FSE organisation
It is recommended to arrive at the FSE no later than 2 hours before the time allocated in the timetable. The hour you are allocated indicates the time at which you are already starting the state examination itself, i.e. you start preparing for the questions 60 minutes earlier (45 minutes for Bachelors) (e.g. you are allocated 11:00 a.m., you start preparing at 10:00 a.m.). The reason for the 2 hour arrival is because it is usually expedited and it is very inconvenient when a student is not available to prepare and has to search.
The state exam begins with the defense of your thesis (prepare a Power Point presentation). This presentation will take approx. 10 minutes. Afterwards, the supervisor’s and opponent’s evaluations of your thesis will be read, and you will answer any questions. You will then respond to comments and questions from the committee in a public debate on the topic.
This is followed by a state final examination in two (Bachelor’s) or three (Master’s) subjects.
It is recommended to prepare the Power Point presentation for the 16:9 aspect ratio and upload it to the computer in the room of the FSE or install sample programs must be prepared the day before the defense. Computers and data projectors will be available in the rooms where the FSE will take place for possible testing.
Uploading presentations for the BP/DP defense will be:
Online – mandatory (no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of the BP/DP defence)
- A course for the FSE is set up in Moodle: https://moodle.utb.cz/course/view.php?id=30861
- Students can submit their presentations according to the program they are studying, the day and the committee they are (will be) assigned to. Students will enroll in the course using the enrollment key (according to the program they are studying) they received via email.
- Always upload your presentation to the correct committee by color and correct day – do not add work for secretaries! It is always the student’s responsibility to upload it correctly.
- Upload files in PDF, .pptx or ZIP archive format with any preview files.
- Always include your last name in the title – this will make it easier for the secretaries of each committee.
- You are free to bring your own laptop and use it for presenting or your own practical demonstration. Connection is via HDMI only.
- Recorded presentations will be set up by the secretaries on the day of your defense on the computers in the respective classrooms.
- Neither the secretary nor the committee guarantees the functionality of the presentation – to be on the safe side, we recommend that you bring your work on a flash drive as a backup
In case of interest, there will also be an opportunity to upload and test the presentation physically in the FSE rooms according to the following schedule:
